Bittersweet offers a multitude of educational services in the way of training courses covering a wide variety of topics. Training courses can be presented at Bittersweet Farms or a site of your choosing.

Bittersweet Academy

The Bittersweet Academy is a comprehensive, three-day workshop intended for parents, family members, teachers, agency employees, and other individuals who currently or are planning to provide support services for adolescents and adults with autism. The Academy is structured with both flexibility and thoroughness, to best meet your needs.

The Academy's three days can be summarized as follows:
   - Education (Day 1)
   - Philosophy (Day 2)
   - Tools/Techniques (Day 3)

• Day 1
  Expand your Education about the basics of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and specific supports in each diagnostic area to empower the abilities of the person with ASD.
• Day 2
  Learn the Philosophy of Bittersweet Farms and the fundamentals of Capability Teaching which motivate you daily to become a teacher who discovers and builds upon capabilities rather than on limitations.
• Day 3
  Understand, apply and take home Tools and Techniques that can be immediately implemented to improve visual supports, scheduling, work plans, and problem solving.

We firmly believe attending the entire three-day Academy is most valuable. However, when we say we have structured The Academy with flexibility in mind, it is because you can choose to attend one, two, or all three days of the workshop, depending on your training needs. With regard to thoroughness, we think you'll find The Bittersweet Academy a complete and detailed workshop to meet your requirements.
