Environmental Assessments

An Environmental Assessment is a multi-faceted review designed to evaluate individuals with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Every person with autism is an individual, and like all individuals, has a unique personality and combination of characteristics. By observing and working with the individual in a variety of settings (at Bittersweet Farms or various worksites in the individual's community), the assessment will examine the defining characteristics of individuals diagnosed with ASD. We will focus on communication and social skills challenges, methods of learning and retention, restricted repertoires of activities and interests, and sensory integration issues. Outcomes from Environmental Assessments may include sensory, communication, social and vocational recommendations, creating workable/transitional IEP's, and/or providing answers and directions for improved school, work, or life skills.

Referrals for the Environmental Assessment can be generated by a parent, family member, teacher, RSC Counselor, Option IV, Work Study Coordinator, other school provider and/or any agency providers.
