Programming Services
At the Pemberville Campus
Bittersweet, Inc. serves individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)
and engages in a model which employs meaning and motivation, aerobic and
active engagement, partnership and purpose, and structure and support. This
provides a community of interdependence and a holistic and healthy
environment in which the potential of each person is envisioned and
developed. Every interaction is a lesson in reciprocal communication,
relationship building and mutual cooperation between staff and
participants.

Services Available at Pemberville
- Transitional School Program for Adolescents
An alternative school program for individuals with autism, ages 12-22,
which focuses on meeting the individualized needs of students. Preparing
individuals for adult services is a focal point of this program. Funding is
through home school districts.
- Summer Enrichment Program
This 6-10 week program is individualized to meet the needs of Extended
School Year funding while also providing the recreational experience of a
traditional summer camp. It is open to participants without ESY funding.

- Day Program
Volunteer opportunities for adults with autism spectrum disorders are
coordinated in the community. Each individual's habilitation needs are
reviewed so that the person can be placed in the appropriate location to
volunteer. The day program operates Monday - Friday. Programs include, but
are not limited to, volunteering at a local museum, public library and
local Opera House. Day Program Options are funded through Individualized
Option and Level One Medicaid Waivers and private pay.
- Community Living Services
Residential services are provided for adults with autism with the Individualized
Option Medicaid Waiver. Community Living Services are provided in a four bedroom home
located on ten acres in a rural area of Pemberville.
