
Phil Spector's career as a songwriter, although prolific, was not overly successful from a commercial standpoint, aside from a few mega-hits. However, his songwriting and publishing rights have probably been responsible for most of his personal wealth over the years. Some of his songs have been recorded by many artists ("You've Lost That Lovin'" Feelin'" is the all-time leader in that category), while others floundered and sunk into obscurity soon after their initial recording.
