Spector material released in Great Britain during the 60's was usually received positively by the public. The Beatles and Rolling Stones were "fans of Phil" and records on the U.K. London label would sometimes equal or surpass the U.S. Philles counterparts in chart position ("River-Deep, Mountain-High" was an extreme example of this: #88 in the U.S., #2 in Great Britain). Others, such as HLU 9962 and HLU 10087, shown below, were quickly withdrawn.

Spector licensed non-U.S.A. rights to his music to Polydor and the Phil Spector International label was created on may 3, 1975. Along with a vast quantity of albums (including a 9-LP box set), many singles were released on PSI, combining old '60s Spector classics with newer material from Jerri Bo Keno, Cher, Dion, and others, not all of them Spector productions.

In Canada, except for the first six releases, which were on the Quality and London labels, Philles records in Canada corresponded to the U.S. versions (regarding catalogue number) on a black/silver Philles label. For more on Canadian issues, see page 102 of "Collecting Phil Spector. . ."
